Special Students

Written requests for admission as a special student should be addressed to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs, Garrett Hall, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA 22903, and should be submitted by August 1 for admission for the fall semester. New special students are not accepted for the spring semester.

Admission as a special student does not imply or guarantee admission to a degree program in an undergraduate or graduate school of the University. Admission to undergraduate schools may be offered only by the Dean of Undergraduate Admission. Admission to graduate programs may be made only by Deans of Graduate Admission of each individual graduate school.
