Teaching Fields

The requirements for each teaching specialization are determined largely by the kind of teaching position for which the student is preparing. The minimum requirements stated below are in addition to the courses required in general education, and are in compliance with state licensure guidelines.

All those completing M.T. programs for initial licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia must qualify by passing the Praxis I and Speciality Area Examinations (Praxis II). Students should contact their advisor in the Curry School of Education or the Office of Admissions for further information. Taking the Praxis exams and appropriate specialty tests are graduation requirements.
