Current Students/Club Sport Certification Process

Please follow these simple steps to help us make the process of certifying your members a smooth one.

  1. Obtain the necessary certification form from the national governing body that oversees the sport. Please keep the following requirements in mind:
    • The form must be typed.
    • Please do not substitute first/last names with nicknames. Complete names only.
    • The 9-digit University ID must be filled in.
    • Leave all academic information blank. This section will be completed by UREG.
    • If the form requests "The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act" (FERPA) protected information, all listed students must sign the form to give UREG permission to share their information.

If any of the above requirements are missing or incorrect, UREG will not be able to complete the certification process for your club.

  2. Once the certification process has been completed, UREG will contact you to pick up your form. This process usually takes 3-5 business days once received.

If you have any further questions, please contact UREG at (434) 924-4122 or

Diploma Copies

If you need a copy of your diploma for certification purposes, take your original diploma to a copy center and have an 8.5" x 11" photocopy made. Mail the copy to UREG. We will certify and notarize it as being a true copy of the original. (If you do not have the original, diploma copies cost $60 and require 8-10 weeks to prepare.)

We recommend that you first verify that some other document won't serve the purpose. Usually, companies or government agencies are looking for official proof of graduation, and only in rare cases involving foreign governments is a copy of the actual diploma needed. A certification or transcript can be obtained at NO cost and in less time.
